Mindful Drinking & Moderation in Midlife: Low No Drinker Podcast
Welcome to the essential podcast for anyone in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond who's ready to drink differently. While Gen Z gets all the headlines for being sober curious, let’s not forget that the real moderation revolution is happening in midlife – and this is your space to explore it without judgment, pressure, or expectation.
Join me to discover the people, places and brands making it easier than ever to live a life less intoxicated, whether that's for tonight, this week, or forever.
I get it – as a midlife moderator, you're not looking to reinvent yourself completely. You want drinks that taste like the ones you already love, new and exciting options with something special to offer, experiences that enhance rather than shorten your evenings, and practical advice that fits your busy, demanding life.
I’m Denise Hamilton-Mace, founder and editor of Low No Drinker Magazine – the leading global publication for mindful and sober curious drinkers and a professional public speaker on all things low, no and light.
My goal with this podcast is to help you feel more confident and more comfortable in your choice to explore a life less intoxicated, and to help you find, understand and enjoy the drinks that make it possible.
If you are, or aspire to be the type of savvy moderator who recognises that drinking less is not a binary decision for you, who knows that coasting with mid-strength drinks, alternating through zebra-striping or bookending the start and end of your night with something non-alcoholic are all viable options then this show is for you.
And you’ll leave each episode feeling motivated and supported to keep energy for the things that matter most: family, health, career, and living life on your own terms.
Each week on the Low No Drinker Podcast, you’ll get to either:
Meet the Makers: Join me in intimate conversations with the founders, brewers, distillers, and visionaries who are creating premium alcohol-free drinks that don't compromise on taste. Discover their personal journeys, what drives their innovation, and why their products are perfect for the discerning midlife palate.
Mindful Moderation Solo episodes: Practical deep-dives into the questions that matter to sophisticated drinkers who want to moderate smartly, with topics like:
- Why do premium alcohol-free drinks cost the same as full-strength versions when there's no alcohol and no tax?
- How can I find an alcohol-free red wine that actually tastes like the Malbec I love?
- What's the real difference between no, low and light alcohol options?
- How do I navigate social situations when I'm the only one moderating?
- What are the best functional drinks for midlife energy and wellness?
This isn't about going completely dry or following someone else's rules. It's about making mindful choices, exploring sophisticated alternatives, and practising practical moderation that suits your lifestyle. Whether you're a Gen X professional looking to improve your health, a busy parent wanting more energy, or someone who simply wants to enjoy better mornings while still celebrating life's special moments, this podcast helps you drink your own way.
Mindful Drinking & Moderation in Midlife: Low No Drinker Podcast is perfect for mindful drinkers, sober curious adults, midlife moderators, health-conscious professionals, premium alcohol-free enthusiasts, and anyone interested in the low, no and light or mid-strength alcohol lifestyle.

Whether you have ever found yourself shouting yes, denise, absolutely at me whilst listening to this podcast, or, on the flip side, you've completely disagreed with something that I had to say. I want to tell you how you can share those thoughts with me and help me to mark a huge milestone as I gear up for episode 100 of the Low no Drinker podcast. Wow, hello, hello and welcome to this week's conversation on the Low no Drinker podcast, the only twice-weekly podcast helping you find, understand and enjoy the world of low, no and light drinks, drinkers and drinking. My name, as you'll know by now, is Denise Hamilton-Mace and I'm the founder, editor and host of All Things Low no Drinker, so it's not a full solo episode from me. This week we're not doing a deep dive into a topic because I would like to ask for your help with something exciting. As I just mentioned in the introduction, we are coming up to episode 100, which is slightly surreal to say. If you'd have told me in the early days when I first started, that nearly two years in, I'd be reaching episode 100 with a growing community of Lono drinkers around the world, I'm not sure I would have believed you, particularly considering that only a few weeks into the podcast the first time around. I had to step away from it because I wasn't sure if it was something that I could actually deliver. But here we are now and it's wonderful, and it is entirely down to you for listening, for sharing, for sending kind messages and generally making it all worthwhile. Podcasting is lonely and it's hard to always know if what you're doing is making an impact, if it's helping people, if they're enjoying it. So when I do get to hear from you, it really does make a difference, and that is why, for the big 100, I want to do something a little bit different and open the mic up to you. I would love to hear from you whether you've been here since the very beginning or you've just stumbled across a podcast in the last week or so for the first time. Your voice really matters and it deserves to be part of this milestone episode. So I'm inviting you to send me in a voice message.
Speaker 1:It could be a favorite moment from the show, maybe when I dropped Rob Fink's beer on the floor behind me halfway through the interview and it fizzed up everywhere and I was covered in milk stouts for the entire show. It could be a quote from the show. We've had some controversial guests with some quite outlandish opinion, even from people who work in the low-no industry and have called it boring. It could be a guest that made you think differently. It could be somebody who really enticed you to go and try their drink and you absolutely loved it. It could be a guest that made you think differently. It could be somebody who really enticed you to go and try their drink and you absolutely loved it. It could be a solo episode that really made you rethink the way that you look at these drinks or your experiences with them. Maybe it's a question that you'd like me to tackle in a future episode. Or maybe you just want to say hi and share where you are on your journey to a life less intoxicated. You could even send in your top picks for my famous barbecue question and tell me what low, no and light drinks you'd be enjoying on a sunny day, barbecue day, with your friends and family.
Speaker 1:Whatever it is, I really would love to hear it and you don't need to overthink it. Just grab your phone, speak from the heart. That'd be perfect. You don't need to script it or polish it or make it sound fancy, as you'll have heard in this episode and many others. I often fluff my words. We are all human. We make mistakes. That's fine. We're not worried about that. I just want to hear from you and I'd like to hear your voice, and I know that this might sound like I just want you to send in messages to say how wonderful I am. I mean, who doesn't want to hear that? But that is not what it's about. This podcast has always been about Lono Nation. It's about the people, it's about the journey, it's about the industry. It's about flavors and experiences and lifestyles and the drinks that make it all possible. So I would love to hear from you if you have a comment or a question on any of the things that I've just mentioned, or something completely different.
Speaker 1:So how can you send your message? Well, I've made it as easy as possible. First thing you need to do is go to the website and go to low no drinker magazinecom forward slash message. That's low L O W N O drinker magazinecom forward slash message. There there'll be nothing else on the page apart from a button that says start recording. So you're going to hit that button and start record it.
Speaker 1:Say your piece, hit send and that's it done. You don't need to log in. You don't need to sign up. I don't need to know your mother's maiden name or your shoe size or anything like that. No email addresses. It's just a chance for you to send me your messages. I will then include as many as I can on the 100th episode. Now, that episode is currently scheduled to air in late June, meaning that you have got until Wednesday, the 18th of June, to send your message in, because obviously I'll need a few days to go through them all and do the editing and make sure that I've got everything that I need to be able to respond to you.
Speaker 1:So Wednesday, the 18th of June, send me your message by going to lonodrinkermagazinecom. Forward slash message and, of course, to make it even easier, I will leave a link to that for you in the show notes as a little thank you. Everyone who does send a message in will go into a drawer for a small but thoughtful gift from me. It might be something to drink, something to read, something to relax with. It'll all depend on where you are in the world and where you are with your low-no or light journey to a life less intoxicated. Wherever it is, I will find something that fits. So when you do leave your message, make sure that you leave me your name and a way to get in contact with you. Now, of course, if you'd rather your message be aired anonymously, then just let me know that as well. I want you to be as comfortable as possible. You know me. It's all about making you feel as confident and comfortable about your choices and actions around low note and light drinks.
Speaker 1:Honestly, this milestone has made me reflect quite a bit. We've had some brilliant guests on the show, some amazing drinks, some great conversation. I'm super proud of everything that I've achieved with you up until this point. In episode 100, I will share more about the plans that I have for the future, because there are loads of them, but this space is changing fast. So your voice, your feedback, your questions all help to shape what comes next.
Speaker 1:So if the podcast has meant anything to you along the way, even in a small way, I would be super duper chuffed if you would just take a minute to submit a recording. It's not just about celebrating 100 episodes. It's about recognizing all the little steps that we've taken together along the way. So head to lonodrinkermagazinecom, forward slash message and share your message with me for episode 100. Next week we'll be back to your regularly scheduled programming, where I'll be sharing an interview that I recorded recently with America's sober sweetheart Laura Silverman of Zero Proof Nation. But for now, head to lonodrinkermagazinecom, forward slash message, send in a little something and I will see you in episode 100. But until then, cheers to a life less intoxicated.
